I’m Erika—Mahjong enthusiast, rule follower, and your new favorite game‑night host. By day, I work in compliance for a financial services firm, which means structure, clarity, and well‑organized processes are in my DNA. By night (and weekends!), I’m diving deep into the world of mahjong and sharing everything I’ve learned with women who want a fun, social, and confidence‑building introduction to the game.
My teaching style feels like a girlfriends’ night out: relaxed, supportive, and full of laughter—just with tiles, strategy, and a little friendly competition mixed in. Even though I’m newer to the game, I’ve spent countless hours studying the rules, strategy, and flow of play, and I love breaking things down in a way that feels simple, intuitive, and empowering.
I offer structured Mahjong 101 and 102 lessons designed especially for women who want to learn something new, meet great people, and have fun doing it. If you’ve ever thought, “I’ve always wanted to learn mahjong,” you’re in the right place.
Class descriptions
Mahjong 101 is your warm, welcoming introduction to the game. If you’ve never played before—or you’ve watched friends play and wished you could join—this class is for you.
You’ll learn:
- The tiles and suits
- How to read the card
- How to build a hand
- The flow of a round
- Basic rules and terminology
The pace is gentle, the atmosphere is social, and no question is too small. By the end, you’ll understand the fundamentals and feel ready to sit at a table with confidence.
Mahjong 102 is the next step once you’ve learned the basics. This class helps everything “click” through guided play, deeper understanding, and beginner‑friendly strategy.
You’ll learn:
- How to identify winning hands
- How to make decisions during play
- How to use the card more confidently
- Simple strategies that build good habits
- How to play full rounds with support
This class is all about moving from “I think I get it…” to “I can totally do this.”
If you have completed the first two lessons or are looking for a mahjong refresher, try guided play!

This is a great capstone course- once you’ve completed all three lessons in the beginner’s series, you should be ready to play on your own!

This is not a one-off intro class. When you sign up, you’re committing to both sessions so you can build skills over two weeks and leave with a full understanding of gameplay.
